Background


The Peace Education Project targets students and teachers in 10 high schools in Northern Uganda. The project will provide peace education training to 1,300 students and 200 teachers from 10 high schools in Amuru, Gulu and Nwoya districts.

The training will focus on understanding conflict, analyzing causes of conflicts, peacebuilding, reconciliation, and conflict resolution skills. The project will create and support peace clubs in the 10 schools to educate people through structured activities including music and drama, charity work within school and the surrounding communities, debate on conflict issue and reconciliation, and peer counseling guidance, and writing articles on peace and reconciliation.

Project Objectives

  • To provide peace education training to students and teachers in 10 high schools in the war-ravaged area of Northern Uganda.
  • To provide support to 10 peace clubs in order to carry out peacebuilding activities
  • To promote dialogues between students and school administrations to resolve conflicts
